On December 1, a public discussion, entitled as "Role of the Police in Ensuring Road and Traffic Safety", and the awarding ceremony of the Facebook group "Naughty Officials" were held at the "Elite Plaza" business center in Yerevan.

The "Asparez" club of journalists implements the "Equal Access to Kindergartens" program, within the framework of which a public discussion was organized in Armavir marz on the topic "The problem of access to kindergartens in Armenia" to find solutions to those problems and develop policy recommendationsfor the RA Ministry of Education and Culture and for the RA Government.

“Kindergarten for all”: Campaign’s Public Discussions

In 2024, approximately 90 billion AMD will be allocated to the newly formed Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RA, which unites the Police, the Rescue Service and the Migration Service. For 2023, the planned budget allocation for the RA Police was approximately 76.2 billion AMD or about 190 million USD to the RA police. In the preceding year, in 2022, the budget was 66.6 billion AMD.

Have you observed or experienced any significant impact from the allocation of 195 million USD from to the Police so far?

The fact that the police turns a blind eye to the offenses of the owners of expensive cars and "gold" license plates is a well-known fact. The reform of the police system aimed to eliminate this phenomenon entirely. Despite significant progress, there are instances where the police behave differently and express differentiated attitude towards drivers of different vehicles, based on the vehicles class and quality.

What to do? It is essential to stand for and demand transparent reforms from the police, ensuring fair treatment for all. Additionally, keeping a sharp eye and a focus on these problems within the RA National Assembly's daily agenda is crucial.

Transparency International Armenia conducted an educational and informational campaign, "Where is our shelter?” in close collaboration with Martuni Women's Community Council / MWCC NGO, involving also the active youth of Vardenis community.

Many of the beneficiaries who have obtained a new profession, within the framework of the public campaign “Help war-affected women to find a new profession”, implemented by the Equal Rights NGO and the Article 3 Club, already have their jobs.

One can often hear that the number of victims in traffic accidents has increased due to the increase in the number of cars on the road. However, statistics reveals that despite the continuous increase in the number of cars, the number of victims in RA has decreased in some years, therefore, there is no direct connection between the number of cars and the statistics of victims.

The problems of pre-school education in Armenia are at the center of attention օf the "Asparez" Club NGO. Currently, "Asparez" is implementing a public campaign "Kindergarten for all children" to raise the awareness on the issue of equality and access to preschool education in Armenia.

With the involvement of active young people of Vardenis, the information campaign "Where is our shelter?" is being implemented in the community, the aim of which is to raise awareness about the problem of shelters and encourage public involvement in community decisions.

For Equal Rights NGO and "Article 3" Club, with the support of compatriots from Armenia and the Diaspora, continues to implement a vocational capacity development program to support war-affected women.

The problem of shelters, particularly in remote and border villages and town of Armenia is still relevant;the shelters are not well- furnished, and the residence is unprepared. A few days ago, the Transparency International Armenia held a public discussion on the topic in Vardenis.
